UPEIDA Mission and Vision
UPEIDA was incorporated in December 2007 under the U.P. Industrial Areas Development Act, 1976, with the primary objective of developing, maintaining, and operating high-speed expressways and industrial corridors in the state. Based at Paryatan Bhawan, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow, UPEIDA is the nodal agency responsible for providing India’s most ambitious road and industrial projects, facilitating unbroken connectivity, inducing industrial growth, and promoting balanced regional growth.
Key Expressway Projects
UPEIDA spearheads the development of several mega expressways, including:
- Ganga Expressway: The longest in the country, phase one from Meerut to Prayagraj covering more than 594 km, and set to be completed by December 2025. Executed for 120 kmph, it will enhance connectivity for 12 important districts.
- Bundelkhand Expressway: 296 km, 4-6 lanes, linking prominent southern UP districts, encouraging industrial clusters and defence production.
- Agra-Lucknow Expressway: 302 km, commissioned in 2016, cutting down travel time between Agra and Lucknow to a mere 4 hours.
- Purvanchal Expressway:341 km, connecting Lucknow to Ghazipur, propelling growth in eastern UP.
- Gorakhpur Link Expressway: Strategic connectivity for north-eastern UP districts.

Integrated Manufacturing & Logistics Clusters (IMLCs)
UPEIDA’s another flagship programme is the creation of 27 world-class Integrated Manufacturing Logistics Clusters at five main expressways – Ganga, Bundelkhand, Agra-Lucknow, Gorakhpur Link, and Purvanchal.
- IMLC Features: Competitive land rates, logistic/multi-product anchor industries, expressway connectivity with no hindrance, road/rail/air infrastructure with advanced features, power supply, drainage, STP, street lighting, online allotment of land, green areas.
- Strategic Locations: Big clusters are Meerut, Hapur, Auraiya, Jalaun, Mahoba, Banda, Chitrakoot, Barabanki, Amethi, Sultanpur, Ambedkar Nagar, Gazipur, Gorakhpur, Firozabad, and Etawah, among others.
Defence Industrial Corridor
The Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor (UPDIC) stretches from Lucknow, Kanpur, Jhansi, Agra, Aligarh, to Chitrakoot with an Atmanirbhar Bharat focus by drawing global investment for defence and aerospace manufacturing.
- Defence Testing Infrastructure: Three new centres in Kanpur and Lucknow.
- Skill Development: Technical training institutes at every corridor node provide local jobs and high-level skillsets.
